Closer examination of the index shows that the 2nd
"T" and "I" could be a corrupted "H"
and the surname should be "Nothard" as it appears on
a copy of the actual marriage certificate. In fact she was actually
Joanna Northard at the time of this marriage.
Joanna Jackson married Robert Northard in the December
quarter of 1852. In the December quarter of 1871 she married Mr
Buttrick as Joanna Nothard "widow" Thus far I have not
been able to trace a record of Robert Northard's death. However
he is most likely the Robert(h) Nothard Master of the "Garnet"drowned
with 6 others in a boating accident at Pillau later renamed Baltiysk
which is now in the Russian Federation.See General
