George Fowler Labourer of Spaldington Yorkshire England
Daughter Ann Fowler spinster age 21 maid servant resident
Spaldington married by banns Samuel Notherd (sic) age 22
bachelor man servant of Spaldington son of William Notherd
7th June 1841 at Bubwith church Yorkshire. Leonard Fowler
and Thomas Ross were witnesses.
Daughter Jane Fowler Spinster of age resident Kilpin, married
after banns, William Nothard of age bachelor husbandman,
resident Methan (There is a Methan Hall across the Ouse from Whitgift)
son of William Nothard on 5th April 1841 at Howden Parish
Church Yorkshire. Both made mark. Leonard and William Fowler
were witnesses.
Samuel (age 30) & Ann (age 29) Northard
then appear with George Northard aged 8 on the 2nd Sept
1850 census for Leroy Township Lake County Ohio. Samuel
is described as a farmer, no relationships are shown but all three
show place of birth as England. This puts the birth of George
sometime between 3rd Sept 1841 and 2nd Sept 1842 but this does
not tie in with the details on his tombstone. This also means
that Samuel & Ann travelled to Ohio after 3rd Sept
1841 at the earliest but before 2nd Sept 1850.
A Leonard Fowler (age 27) & a George Nothard
(age 30) arrive in the Port of New York aboard ship "St George"
on 1st June 1844. I assume that this is the Leonard Fowler
mentioned above and that George Nothard is possibly related
to Samuel & William. Hopefully the 1841 census of Spaldington
may resolve this matter.
Again in the 1850 Ohio census at Colombra?? Hamilton County on
